Day 63: Should I Care Who My Competition Is?

Day 63:  Should I care who my competition is?  I suppose it is important, but it seems we spend more time trying to figure out who the competition is instead of putting the best proposal together that we can.  I have always felt I should try to put together the best package I can right up front.  The company may come back and ask for more, and you can say in confidence, we offered the best we could do right up front because we really want your company to locate here.  I have worked with an economic development professional that spends all her time trying to find out who the competition is and then she bashes the competitor.  I think it makes her look bad and she misses opportunities for putting the best proposal together.  Do your best and don’t worry about the competition.  Next:  How do I make contact?
