Dellinger to Lead Economic Development Efforts

SSG is pleased that we were able to assist in finding a new Vice President of Economic Development for Council B luffs.  The following is a press release from the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce:  The Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the hiring of Michael Dellinger as their new Vice President for Economic Development.  Dellinger will lead the efforts of the Pottawattamie County Growth Alliance and its Progress 2020 Initiative to grow jobs and investment in the Council Bluffs Region starting September 3, 2013.

Dellinger brings over 25 years of economic development experience to the position after having served in various economic development positions in South Dakota, Iowa and Indiana.  His work and successful track record in recruiting companies and developing comprehensive economic development programs is what the Alliance and the Chamber were looking for in the candidate.  Experience with the Greater Indianapolis Partnership, one of the most successful economic development organizations in the country, the Siouxland Initiative in Sioux City and most recently at the Greater Yankton Economic Development Office will prove beneficial to the new efforts of the Alliance and the Chamber.

“Mike is a great catch for us and we are very excited to have him on board to help us take our economic development efforts to the next level”, said Bob Mundt, President/CEO of the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce.  “Mike has a wealth of experience in recruiting new companies and in creating regional partnership opportunities to build our economic base.”

The Growth Alliance, which is the economic development arm of the Chamber, began implementation of the Progress 2020 plan in January.  Efforts include a renewed Business Retention & Expansion Program, an aggressive business recruiting effort utilizing new partnerships and new marketing programs, a focus on small business assistance, workforce development and infrastructure improvements for commercial growth.

“We have a lot of work to do with our new, aggressive program and Mike will be a vital part of that effort”, said Jane Bell, Chair of the Growth Alliance.  “We are pleased to have Mike join us and we look forward to developing new relationships with our regional partners to build the economy of the entire region.”
