SSG Searching for Executive Director, Oskaloosa Iowa


The Mahaska Community development team comprised of the Mahaska Community Development Group, Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group, Mahaska Ag & Rural Development, and Main Street Oskaloosa are seeking an Executive Director of Community Development.

The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the team in defining a data-driven strategic plan, and ensuring that the plan is implemented by board, committee and professional staff members through a coordinated, collaborative approach. The Executive Director will provide leadership to:

  1. Manage development activities to increase capital investments, leads, prospects, and business locations/expansions (i.e. Location One Information System);
  2. Collect and analyze market and demographic data and aid in defining and implementing an outcome-based strategic plan to address housing, workforce, and quality of life needs;
  3. Build partnerships and teams; and,
  4. Develop the organization and budget.


Any combination of education and/or experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance.  An example of a qualified combination would be a Bachelor’s degree in public/business administration, urban planning, economics, marketing, finance or related field, along with seven (7) years experience in economic development, community development or redevelopment activities in the public or private sector. Candidate with Certified Economic Developer (CecD) or Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) preferred but not required.
